HALF DAY

Meeting in Colle Aperto, walk in Corsarola street, visit the Old Square, the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Colleoni Chapel and the Cathedral. Visit to Moroni Palace, a private house with a wonderful collection of paintings and a large garden terrace in the heart of the Upper Town.

 

 

FULLDAY

Meeting in Colle Aperto, walk in Corsarola street, visit the Old Square, the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Colleoni Chapel and the Cathedral. Visit to Moroni, a private house witha wonderful collection of paintings and a large garden terrace in the heart of the Upper Town. Lunch at Moroni Palace. Visit the Accademia Carrara Museum. Visit to Agliardi Palace with the possibility of a light dinner.

 

 

 

 

 

 

WEEK-  END

FRIDAY: In the afternoon arrival at the airport of Orio al Serio, transfer to the hotel (possibly in the Upper Town). Dinner in a charming restaurant in the Upper Town. Evening stroll around the charming medieval alleys and along the fortification walls.

SATURDAY: Visit to the Accademia Carrara Museum and lunch at Agliardi Palace with the welcoming of hosts. Guided tour of the Upper Town: the Old Square,the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Colleoni Chapel and the Cathedral. Dinner at Moroni Palace, and visit the beautiful seventeenth century palace.

SUNDAY: Almenno San Salvatore: visit to the Romanesque church of San Tome. Visit the Lurani Cernuschi wineries with tasting of their wines and the Churchof St. Nicholas of their property. Lunch buffet at Villa Pesenti Agliardi to Sombreno and visit to the neoclassical villa designed by LeopoldPollack, the architect of Villa Reale in Milan. Visit to Malpaga Castle,home of the mid'300 bought in the mid' 400 by Bartolomeo Colleoni, the great leader of Bergamo. Departure from Orio al Serio.

BERGAMO AND COMO LAKE

 

FRIDAY: in the afternoon arrival at the airport of Orio al Serio, transfer to the hotel. Dinner at a restaurant in the heart of the Upper Town. Evening walk along the fortification walls and in the charming medieval streets.

SATURDAY: guided tour of the Upper Town: the Old Square, the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Colleoni Chapel, the Cathedral and Palazzo della Ragione. Going to San Vigilio by funicular, lunch in San Vigilio. Visit the Accademia Carrara Museum. Walk through the streets of Bergamo twentieth century (area Sentierone). Elegant dinner in Agliardi Palace with the welcoming of hosts and guided tour of the halls by the owners.

SUNDAY: visit to Villa Pesenti Agliardi in Sombreno (10 km from Bergamo), neoclassical residence designed by Leopold Pollack, the architect of Villa Reale in Milan. For those who want to walk to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows in Sombreno where there are some beautiful paintings by the Bergamasc painter Carlo Ceresa. Lunch at Moroni Palace and visit to the house. Visit of Alzano  Lombardo's Sacresties which are collected a series of sculptures, carvings, stuccos and frescoes dating back to the seventeenth century of the best exponents of Lombard Baroque. We will move in Trescore to visit the frescoes by Lorenzo Lotto in the Suardi Chapel. Free evening.

MONDAY: drive to Como Lake. Arrival in Bellagio and visit the gardens of Villa Melzi. Lunch in Bellagio. Wanting to cross the lake by ferry. Visit in CernobbioVillaPizzo, a private villa with a beautiful garden overlooking the lake.

Departure from Orio or Malpensa.
